There isn't too much information currently known about the girl, but NJ.com reports that her name is Silvia Abarca-Velasquez. The last time she was seen was last week on Tuesday, March 9th. NJ.com also mentions that Police have said that she's "endangered".

You should be on the lookout for a hispanic teen, about 115 lbs according to previous reports.

Glassboro is the same town in which Rowan University is located, but we're no more than an hour away, so she could be anywhere. Abarca-Velasquez has been missing for over a week now. According to the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children, once a child is reported missing, it's required by law that they are entered into what's know as the National Crime Information Center. The center is ran by the FBI and saw 365,348 missing children entries last year alone.

The National Center for Missing and Exploited Children helped assist with almost 30,000 of those cases in 2020. According to their website, all the cases were at least one out of the five following types:

  • 91 percent of cases wound up being endangered runaways.
  •  5 percent of cases were children abducted by family members.
  •  3 percent of cases included young adults missing from ages 18 to 20-years-old.
  •  Cases in which children were abducted by someone outside of the family were less than 1%.
  •  1% of the cases were injured, lost or "otherwise missing children."

If you or anyone you know has any information regarding the whereabouts of Sylvia Abarca-Velasquez, you're encouraged to contact Glassboro Police either by text (GLASSPD to 847411) or phone (856-881-1500).
