
Teen Thought He Was Meeting Girl for a Date, Got Robbed Instead in Washington Twp., NJ
A South Jersey teen who thought he was meeting a girl at a park for a date got robbed by several people instead.
That was just one case that officers in Washington Township, Gloucester County, are investigating from this past weekend.
The department said overall, they handled over 250 calls for service, investigated 15 accidents, made five dozen motor vehicle stops, and arrested 12 people.
Some of the more notable cases from the past few days are as follows:
- Aggravated Assault / Strangulation Arrest: Officers responded to a domestic dispute and made contact with the victim. A Turnersville man was taken into custody and charged with Aggravated Assault/Strangulation. He was processed and turned over to the county jail.
DWI Arrests Across the Township
- DWI Arrest: A Sewell man was arrested Saturday night for Driving While Intoxicated after crashing into another vehicle on Egg Harbor Road in the area of County House Road. The driver recorded a .25 BAC before being released to his sister.
- DWI Arrest: A Washington Township woman was arrested for Driving While Intoxicated following a motor vehicle stop. A breath test resulted in a .095 BAC. She was released to her brother.
- DWI Arrest: A woman from Hammonton was arrested for Driving While Intoxicated following a traffic stop on Hurffville-Cross Keys Road. A breath test resulted in a .11 BAC. She was released to her brother.
Teen Robbed During "Date" in Washington Township
- Assault / Robbery Investigation: Officers are investigating a robbery that occurred at a Washington Township park after a juvenile man reported being assaulted by several individuals during a "date" with a female that was arranged through social media. During the assault, the suspects stole the victim's wallet containing cash and his ID. The female and the accused suspects fled the area.
Warrant Arrests Highlight Busy Weekend
- Warrant Arrest: A Washington Township woman was arrested on a $1,000 warrant out of Cherry Hill following a motor vehicle stop.
- Warrant Arrest: A woman from Turnersville was arrested after being found to have warrants out of Gloucester City, Barrington, and Haddon Township during a traffic stop.
- Warrant Arrest: Officers responded to the Clusters apartment complex for a report of two people possibly overdosing in a car. Both were conscious and alert upon arrival. A Turnersville woman was found to have an active warrant out of Monroe Township. She was taken into custody.
- Missing Child: Officers responded to a report of a missing 7-year-old autistic child who had last been seen approximately 10 minutes prior to the call. Officers and a K9 searched the home and the surrounding area. The child was located in a nearby wooded area.
- Fight: Officers responded to the Washington Way Apartments for a report of an argument that escalated into a physical fight involving multiple people.
