3 South Jersey Men Are Headed To State Prison
The Atlantic County Prosecutor’s Office has released word of the latest state prison pleas and sentences.
Somers Point, New Jersey Man & Child Endangerment
On Tuesday, March 10, 2026, Tyrique Beckett, 31 years old, from Somers Point, New Jersey, was sentenced to three years in New Jersey State Prison by New Jersey Superior Court Judge Donna Taylor.
This was a successful collaboration between the Somers Point Police Department and the Atlantic County Prosecutor’s Office.
The Somers Point Police Department learned about alleged sexual conduct between Beckett and a juvenile victim.
The defendant actually recorded the illegal conduct on his cell phone, without the knowledge of the victim.
Beckett pled guilty to third-degree endangering the welfare of a child on October 20, 2025.
Beckett will be required to register as a sex offender, via Megan's Law, and he will be on parole supervision for the rest of his life.
Atlantic County Assistant Prosecutor Brooke Melissa Hoffner represented the State of New Jersey in this case.
Vineland Man Is Guilty In Atlantic City Shooting
This guilty plea represents another successful collaboration between the Atlantic City Police Department and the Atlantic County Prosecutor’s Office.
On Monday, March 9, 2026, Ricardo Ferrera, 32 years old, from Vineland, New Jersey pled guilty to second-degree Aggravated Assault and fourth-degree Aggravated Assault by Pointing a Firearm.
Ferrera will be is sentenced five years New Jersey State Prison “with a parole ineligibility 85% concurrent to 18 months New Jersey State Prison with a parole ineligibility of 18 months,” said the Atlantic County Prosecutor’s Office.
In February, 2022, Atlantic City Police Department responded for a ShotSpotter notification of seven gunshots.
Two individuals were injured by way of a gunshot. Investigation determined that Ferrera fired shots and fled the scene. He was later apprehended by ACPD officers. The Atlantic County Prosecutor's officer sought pretrial detention of Ferrera, which was granted, said the Atlantic County Prosecutor’s Office.
The sentencing of Ferrera is scheduled for April 20, 2026, before New Jersey Superior Court Judge Jorge F. Coombs.
Atlantic County Assistant Prosecutor Erin Rush represented the State in this case.
Millville Man Is Guilty In Theft Case
On March 6, 2026, Benny Dixon, 21 years old from Millville, New Jersey plead guilty to third-degree receiving stolen property.
This represents a successful collaboration between the New Jersey State Police, Millville Police Department and Atlantic County Prosecutor’s Office.
“Under the terms of his plea agreement, Dixon is expected to be sentenced to a term of 3 years in New Jersey State Prison,” said the Atlantic County Prosecutor’s Office.
On November 11, 2024, New Jersey State Police responded to Mays Landing and Harley Ave in Hamilton Township for a report of a motor vehicle accident. Upon arrival, police made contact with the driver, Benny Dixon, who admitted to police that he knew the motor vehicle he had been operating at the time of the accident was stolen, said the Atlantic County Prosecutor’s Office.
Dixon will be sentenced on April 17, 2026 by New Jersey Superior Court Judge Dorothy Garrabrant.
Atlantic County Assistant Prosecutor Renee Marshina prosecuted the matter on behalf of the State of New Jersey.
