Sicklerville, NJ, Man Gets 25 Years in Prison For 2017 Fatal Shooting

Six years after the incident, a Sicklerville man has been sentenced in connection to a fatal shooting in Camden.

Back in September, 29-year-old Andrew Whittaker pleaded guilty to first-degree aggravated manslaughter and first-degree witness tampering charges for the death of 30 year-old Edward Whittle, Jr., of Camden.

Last week, Whittaker was sentenced to 25 years in state prison. He will be required to serve 85-percent of his term, or just over 21 years, before becoming eligible for parole.

Authorities say on the evening of May 17th, 2017, Whittle was shot multiple times on the 1300 block of Carl Miller Blvd. in Camden and he died from his injuries.

On June 9th of that year following an investigation, Whittaker was arrested and charged with first-degree murder. The witness tampering charge was added in 2019.

The state was represented by Assistant Prosecutor/Homicide Unit Deputy Section Chief Lauren Pratter of the Camden County Prosecutor’s Office.

The case was investigated by Sgt. Dennis Convery of the Camden County Prosecutor’s Office and members of the Camden County Police Department.
