Jamie Adody Wins Best Sportscaster Award After Losing Her Job

In a Facebook post this week, former Action News sports anchor Jamie Apody shared the news that she won the voting as Philadelphia's Best TV Sportscaster in a best-of issue from MainLine Today magazine.

I guess this is what you call ironic but… I’m humbled to announce that I’ve been named the Best TV Sportscaster as voted on by the readers of @mainlinetoday magazine for their annual Best of the Main Line issue.

After 18 years as a sportscast for 6ABC, Jamie Apody suddenly went missing from newscasts in late 2023 and wasn't heard from until late April when she announced that she was leaving 6ABC and hoped to find another opportunity in the area to do what she loved.

What went unsaid by Apody is what happened that caused the decision and why she had been silenced for such a long time before being able to say she was out at Action News.

As I told you at the time, it seemed obvious that Apody had been contractually silenced by the TV station and wasn't allowed to tell the truth about her departure.

Apody Wins Best Sportscaster After 7 Months on the Bench

Although Jamie still hasn't come right out and said it, this week's Facebook post acknowledging her best-of-vote made it clear that this has been a tough period of adjustment and reflection for her.

This marks my 5th time winning this honor since 2018! I just can’t thank you enough for your support, most especially this year. Given I haven’t even been on the air for 7 months this one means more to me than any of the others.

Your loyalty to me during this time of transition has helped me keep the faith that I do belong, and that I should continue to try and find an avenue to do what I love so very much.

Here’s hoping I can somehow, someway keep my streak alive next year! Thank you from the bottom of my heart
