Scott Porter's Tenure With Longport Police

According to a Facebook post from Longport Police, Porter began working for the Stockton College Police in 1981.

He joined the Longport Police in 1986 and served proudly as an officer until 2001 when he became the Chief of Police.

Porter served as Chief for a decade and then retired from police work in 2011.

After several years running a security business, a cleaning service, and 3 Wet Willie's daiquiri bars in Atlantic City, Scott Porter returned to Longport.

In 2019, Porter accepted the role of business administrator for the Borough of Longport, continuing to lend his expertise and leadership to the community he loved.

Longport's Chief of Police Remembers Porter

Frank Culmone, who took over as Longport's Chief of Police in 2015, remembers Porter well and credits him with helping to advance his career.

“Scott Porter was more than just a leader; he was a mentor and a friend. His dedication to the Longport community and the officers of our department has left an indelible mark on all of us.

Personally, I have learned so much from him over the years, both as an officer and as a chief. His wisdom and guidance have shaped my approach to leadership, and I will forever be grateful for the influence he had on my life and career.”

In 2022, Scott Porter received the Lifetime Achievement Award from the New Jersey State Association of Chiefs of Police.

No funeral arrangements have been released yet for Scott Porter.
