Cumberland Co Cops Get An Emergency Cheat Sheet With New Special Needs Registry
I'm not a first responder or emergency personnel of any kind, but it's not hard to imagine that the last thing first responders need to deal with while trying to handle an emergency is trying to guess whether or not accommodations need to be made in an effort to get someone to safety.
Of course, what needs to be done must get done, however, it would probably save a lot of valuable time if police and first responders were aware of any kind of special situation before they arrived. Cue the new special needs registry currently being assembled in Cumberland County, NJ. Honestly, something of this nature is, most likely, well overdue.
According to NJ.com, the county is currently working on a registry that will house information regarding those with special needs who must be at the highest priority level should they be somewhere or involved in an emergency that requires the intervention of authorities and other various first responders. The special needs registry will feature information like a description, a person's specific impairment, and emergency contact.
To be included in the registry, you don't have to added by a third party. You can actually add yourself through the county's prosecutor office, or via one of the police departments' websites.
