Taking the train to the plane could become a reality for Atlantic City International Airport as NJ Transit and the operators of the airport, South Jersey Transit Authority have agreed to conduct a study to possibly build a new train station at the north end of the airport according to a report from NJ.com.

The land in Galloway Township would be offered by a developer as part of the project. Steve Mazur, SJTA Chief Engineer tells NJ.com

“It has been a topic of discussion for many years. Most recently, a redeveloper in Galloway Township desires to include the station in his site plan,” “NJ Transit reached out to the SJTA to partner on the study.”

The new proposed train station would be located east of the Pomanoa Road crossing on the north side next to the Pomana Commons redevelopment site. The study will take about 10 months once the start date is finalized.

Major expansion plans also earmarked for the airport in a report from the Press of Atlantic City include a nearby four-story, 111 room hotel which will include restaurants, a convention center, parking for over 100 hundred cars, and plenty of employment opportunities. Phase one will consist of the construction of the hotel.
There's more to come with additional phases which will include a new restaurant, two fast-food eateries, two hotels with a capacity for 100 rooms, additional parking spaces, and four-light industrial buildings with the hope of attracting other businesses to the area adjacent to the airport. The hope is to start phase one of the multi-million dollar project as soon as possible.
