Brigantine Students Collecting Money, Supplies for Veterans
A group of 8th-grade students from Brigantine Community School came in during my radio show and made my day.
The kids are promoting events to help South Jersey Veterans in conjunction with Veterans Day. Thanks to Mrs. Pomatto and Mrs. Middleman for bringing the students to the radio station and for their hard work on these Veterans' events.
On Wednesday, November 15th at 9:15 am, the staff and scholars will welcome Veterans into the school for a special ceremony.
A Brigantine Police and Fire Company escort will bring the veterans from the Brigantine Elks Lodge to the school.
The Brigantine Community School "Steps for Vets" fundraiser will then begin, with students and staff taking laps on the school track and three family members or friends sponsoring their laps.
Money raised will be divided between three local Veterans organizations on the island.
Sponsors can donate a dollar a lap for every lap the student walks or they can make a flat donation. Checks may be made out to "Brigantine BEA" or you can scan the QR code below to donate through Facebook.
Students are also collecting items for Veteran Care Packages to be delivered to South Jersey nursing homes and assisted living facilities with veteran residents.
Donated items can be dropped off until November 24 at the Brigantine Police and Fire departments, Art Is Salon, the Brigantine Municipal Building, and at the Brigantine Community School.
See a list of requested items below and thanks for helping!
At 11 a.m., Veterans will be welcomed in the school cafeteria for a delicious lunch and Veterans Resources Fair featuring AtlantiCare, SJ Veterans Center, Moss Rehab for Veterans, and more.
