Atlantic Cape Community College Announces Plan for Reopening Campus
Atlantic Cape Community College is preparing to welcome students back into classrooms for the upcoming fall semester.
On the heels of Governor Phil Murphy lifted New Jersey's 'stay at home' order that forced schools and college campuses to close due to the COVID-19 pandemic, face-to-face classes at Atlantic Cape will reportedly be limited, most likely in locations like hands-on labs in the culinary, health sciences, etc. The statement doesn't make clear exactly how many students will be permitted inside classrooms at any given time.
Since March, students have been relegated to continuing their studies via online classes, a practice that's continuing into the summer semesters.
In a statement released by ACCC today, President, Dr. Barbara Gaba writes, “The reopening of the campuses will be a measured and gradual approach to ensure the health and safety of students, faculty, and staff. Our Coronavirus Task Force has developed a comprehensive reopening plan and is reviewing all cleaning and sanitizing protocols, to ensure that Atlantic Cape can provide the necessary in-person services (such as Financial Aid, Admissions, and Advising) for student success.”
The College says it will loan computers to students who need them, as well as provide remote counseling and other services, and has expanded tutoring services to 24 hours a day, seven days a week, according to the press release.
