A woman was hit and killed after getting out of her SUV on the Atlantic City Expressway early Sunday on the Atlantic City Expressway.

According to NJ.com, Natacha Previl, 39, who driving eastbound on the Atlantic City Expressway when she pulled over and parked on the right shoulder about a quarter-mile east of exit 14 for Hamilton Township -- County Rt. 670 --  at about 5:05 am Sunday.

State Police say after she parked, Previl got out of her SUV and was hit by a vehicle that didn't stop.

Previl, from Toms River, was killed by the hit-and-run vehicle.

State Police did not say or do not know why Natacha Previl pulled over on the Expressway, always a dangerous thing to do.
