Wildwood Police say a 55-year old man violated a restraining order, visited his 34-year-old daughter, and stabbed her.

Police say they were called out for a report of a stabbing to the 4200 block of New Jersey Avenue at 12:45am on July 5th.

Here are the details, from Wildwood Police, about what happened next:

Upon arrival officers located a 34-year-old female victim suffering from lacerations to her hand and upper thigh, as well as her father, Mark Livingston, 55, of Wildwood, suffering from injuries sustained as a result of being assaulted. Both were treated by rescue and transported to Cape Regional Medical Center.

During the ensuing investigation conducted by the Wildwood Police Department Detective Division, it was learned that Livingston was visiting his daughter at her residence when the two became engaged in a dispute. During this dispute, Livingston produced a knife and stabbed his daughter in the hand and thigh. A friend of the victim intervened to stop the stabbing and was able to subdue Livingston until police arrived.

Both Livingston and the victim were treated for their injuries and ultimately discharged from the hospital.

As a result of this investigation, Livingston was charged with Aggravated assault (2nd degree), Unlawful possession of a weapon (4th degree), Possession of a weapon for unlawful purpose (3rddegree), and Certain person not to possess a weapon (4th degree). During the investigation it was determined that a final restraining was in place between Livingston and the victim. As a result, Livingston was additionally charged with Contempt for disobeying a judicial order (4thdegree).

Livingston was lodged in the Cape May County Correctional Facility in accordance with the New Jersey Attorney General Bail Reform Guidelines.
