Congratulations to the Mainland Regional High School Girls Basketball team on their 42-35 state Group III Championship victory Sunday over Chatham in Toms River.

The Mainland girls won the first state title in the team's history while appearing in a state final for the first time since 1989.

The Lady Mustangs don't have much time to savor their championship victory as they advance to the state  Tournament of Champions Tuesday, returning to the RJW Barnabas Health Center in Toms River to face Manchester (31-2), the Group II state champions.

But Sunday afternoon's return to Mainland Regional High was all about celebrating as the team's bus was escorted by Linwood Fire trucks and met by a gym full of fans, classmates and family.

Thanks to Mainland Focus for this short victory video...
