An overnight fire on the 300 block of South 4th Street in Millville lit up the night sky over Millville early this morning. Reports say the fire was caused by a gas line rupture.

Millville Police say that fire crews have been working overnight on a fire on S. 4th Street that has displaced residents of six homes in four buildings.

6ABC is reporting that 23 people have been displaced and two children are unaccounted for this morning.

Firefighters have been fighting this fire since it broke out at around 11 p.m. on Wednesday.

It ended up destroying two sets of duplexes and two single-family homes along the 300 block of S 4th Street.

6ABC has been told that a gas line ruptured, which fed the fire and made it more intense, allowing the flames to jump from house to house.

Firefighters have been hampered by a non-functioning fire hydrant on the block. One firefighter told 6ABC that they had to run 800 feet of hose to another hydrant to fight the fire.

Neighbors have posted videos of a raging fire and unconfirmed reports that at least one car has exploded and several pets have died in the fire.

This is a breaking story. Check back for more information.
