Hurricane Danny is done. Now the focus shifts to Tropical Storm Erika.

Tropical Storm Erika has become the fifth storm of the 2015 Hurricane Season. According to the National Weather Service, Tropical Storm Erika formed on Monday night over the eastern section of the Atlantic Ocean and could gain momentum over the next five days. Erika is moving swiftly in the open waters of the Atlantic and could make its way to the Bahamas by the weekend.

Erika poses no threat to South Jersey and will not affect the weather for our area for the rest of the week and the weekend. The Hurricane season for the Atlantic will reach its peak by the second week of September. We'll keep a close eye on the track of Tropical Storm Erika.
