A once-thriving restaurant, which has been closed for a long time, on one of the busiest roads in South Jersey is being demolished.

The Club House restaurant on the Black Horse Pike in Mays Landing, right across from Hamilton Mall, is becoming a distant memory.

Truth be told, I've worked in the area for almost a quarter of a century and I don't recall much about the Club House. In fact, I can't find any real references to it online, either. Usually you can find something - even just an old picture - but nothing comes up for this eatery.

I've seen one or two references to that building having been constructed in 1976, which would match the name of the restaurant to the then-thriving race track across the street. Using Google Maps, it would appear that the Club House closed prior to 2008. The earliest picture available is from September, 2008 -- at that time, a barbeque (Big Ed's?) restaurant had opened and already closed there. The big sign along the Black Horse Pike fell down sometime between 2008 and early 2009.

Being that I couldn't find any information about it, I decided to turn to Facebook and one or two people chimed-in with some memories...
