Slain singer and South Jersey native Christina Grimmie won a Teen Choice Award on Sunday night. So why did the ceremony fail to recognize her?

Despite the show's clear plea to end gun violence, The Voice Season 6 finalist Grimmie, who was shot and killed by a crazed fan in Orlando, Florida on June 10th at the age of 22, wasn't mentioned once.

Grimmie was honored with the Choice Web Star Award in the music category Sunday night, but it was not a category that was televised.

What did make the Teen Choice Awards telecast, however, was a serious segment calling for an end to gun violence. The clip featured such high profile celebrities as actress Jessica Alba, singer Ne-Yo, as well as victims from San Bernardino, Newton and Orlando mass shootings, 6abc.com reports. But notably missing was even a photo of Christina Grimmie, murdered just one night prior to the Pulse nightclub shootings.

And it didn't take long for Evesham-native Grimmie's fans to take notice, and take their fury to social media.
