Spirit Adds More Flights to Five ACY Destinations

Beginning July 10th, Spirit Airlines will increase the number of departures from Atlantic City International Airport to five popular southern destinations.

On average, Spirit Airlines sees eight to 10 departures from Atlantic City a day, depending on the season, and about half of the flights travel to Florida.

While Spirit has yet to give exact numbers on the additional departures, ACY teased the increased flights on social media.

Spirit Airlines Had Cut Routes Across Its Network

Wednesday's announcement is encouraging for Spirit's business outlook in the second half of 2025.

Like many other airlines, Simply Flying reported that Spirit would operate 24% fewer flights in May and June 2025 than it did in the same period of 2024.

Spirit said the cuts were part of a business strategy. Economists pointed to expected higher operating costs and weak demand in the airline industry, affected by tariffs.

According to the article in Travel + Leisure, most of these cuts were expected to happen at Spirit Air's biggest hubs in Boston, Chicago, Los Angeles, and New York.

Spirit Rises in Reliability

Earlier this year, Spirit Air finished February with an on-time arrival rate of 81.77%, coming up close to first-place Southwest's 82.77% finish, albeit with far fewer flights flown.

Southwest Airlines flew 102,457 flights in February to Spirit's 17,810.

Still, when you think of all the problems Spirit has faced in the last couple of years, it is quite an accomplishment to become one of America's most reliable carriers.
