Several South Jersey law enforcement agencies are coordinating their investigation into a disturbing story out of Bridgeton today.

Police were called to the residence of a Cumberland County Prosecutor's Office Detective Tuesday evening at 10:30, for reports that several people were kicking in the front door of a residence.

The Victim was a Detective with the Cumberland County Prosecutor's Office

When police arrived, they discovered 51-year-old Monica Mosley, a Sergeant with the Cumberland County Prosecutor's office had been shot.

Mosley died a short time later at the scene according to Bridgeton Chief of Police Michael Gaimari.

Investigation Leads Police to Area Hospitals

As law enforcement initiated their investigation, they were led to Inspira Hospital in Bridgeton and Cooper University Hospital in Camden where they located one suspect who was being treated for a gunshot wound.

The suspect, who has not been identified, is being detained by police.

As of this morning (Wednesday 10/16), police have not released the identity of the suspects involved in the shooting.

There have been no arrests, and no charges have been filed.

In a statement released by the Cumberland County Prosecutor's Office, Chief Michael Gaimari expressed deep sadness.

Gaimari said he has known Sgt. Mosley for nearly her whole career and expressed condolences to her immediate and extended family members and to the staff at the prosecutor’s office which is located in the city. “All of law enforcement feels the loss deeply, but our hearts go out to her family and friends including those that worked with her daily,” the chief said, “it’s truly devastating!”

An attack on law enforcement is an attack on all of us.
