Hundreds in South Jersey have been left without jobs after the Progresso plant in Vineland shut down today.

The Press of Atlantic City reports more than 300 union members are out of a job, just two months after securing a 4-year contract.

The plant's closure was unexpected.

Another report suggests that General Mills, which owns the Progresso brand, made a 'tentative decision' to close the Elmer Rd. facility in the summer of 2017 to limit excess supply.

So much for that commercial touting Vineland as "the home of the Progresso."

We'll bring you more information as it becomes available.
