Officials in Egg Harbor Township say a passenger in an open-air roadster was killed in a single-vehicle crash Monday afternoon.

The Egg Harbor Township Police Department says their officers responded to Ocean Heights Avenue near Alder Avenue just before 2PM Monday.

According to authorities,

A 2017 Polaris Slingshot, operated by Gary P. Brenner, 64 years of age from Egg Harbor Township, was traveling North on Ocean Heights Avenue in the area of Alder Avenue. Preliminary investigation indicates that Mr. Brenner lost control of the motorcycle after driving through an area of standing water. The motorcycle continued rotating out of control in a northwesterly direction, across the oncoming lane of travel and impacting a utility pole.

The side passenger, 35-year-old Adam D. Brenner from Egg Harbor Township, sustained life threatening injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.

Polaris describes the Slingshot as a, "3-wheel, open-air roadster that allows you to experience the world in a whole new way." The vehicle, according to the manufacturer, has, "no roof, no doors." The Slingshot is classified as a three wheeled motorcycle; most states classify it as an Autocycle, says Polaris.

This crash is being investigated by Ofcs. Nick Poletis, Ben Kollman, Robert Moran, James Ludwig, and Sgt. Larry Graham. Anyone who witnessed the crash or is able to provide additional information is asked to contact the EHTPD Traffic Safety Unit at (609) 926-4045.
