The Ocean City Doo Dah Parade always seems like a sure sign that summer is almost here.

The parade, at noon on Saturday, April 12th, is Ocean City’s annual tribute to humor and marks the opening of an uninterrupted season of special events.

The procession features marching bands, floats, a grand marshal, and a brigade of basset hounds.

The parade route starts at Sixth Street and travels along Asbury Avenue to 12th Street, then turns to the Boardwalk at 12th Street and finishes on the boardwalk at Sixth Street.

1993 Phillies Pitching Star is Grand Marshal

Ocean City has announced that Philadelphia Phillies great Tommy Greene will be the grand marshal of the 38th annual Doo Dah Parade.

Greene pitched for the Phillies from 1990 to 1995, and he posted a 16-4 record during the team’s memorable run to the World Series in 1993.

Greene is a regular on 97.3 ESPN's weekend show, The Locker Room, where he gives his insights about the Phils and previews the weekend games.

It should be interesting to see what he has to say about this year's brigade of basset hounds.

Tommy will be available for autographs and pictures at the Ocean City Music Pier for an hour after the parade.

Ocean City's Doo Dah Parade

The Doo Dah Parade was born in Ocean City in 1986 as an event to celebrate the end of income-tax season.

Over the years, it has become a highlight of the spring calendar of events.

Comic Soupy Sales was a mainstay and a grand marshal of Ocean City Doo Dah Parade for many years, until he died in 2009.

Other notables who have served as grand marshal include Regis Philbin, Eric Estrada, Mickey Morandini, Tommy Greene's Phillies teammate on the 1993 Phillies team,  and Flyers great Brian Propp.
