Ocean City, NJ has been recognized again for its beautiful beach, this time by the readers of USA Today.

USA Today announced Friday that Ocean City is the winner of its Readers’ Choice 2023 contest as the “Best Beach in the Northeast.”

Ocean City took first place in the survey that also included Delaware's Rehoboth and Bethany Beach, Gloucester, Massachusetts, Block Island, off the coast of Rhode Island, and Ocean City, Maryland.

Two other New Jersey beaches made the Reader's Poll's top 10: Cape May Beaches and Belmar Beach.

USA Today said readers sighted Ocean City's mix of sunny shores and convenient amenities in making their choice.

Ocean City features a wide sandy shoreline that stretches for about 8 miles along the Atlantic Ocean. With a family-friendly atmosphere, there are lifeguards on duty during the summer season and various amenities available to make it safe and convenient for families. When you need a break, adjacent to the beach is a lively and bustling boardwalk that is lined with dining, shopping and entertainment options.

The contest was decided by online voters in a nationwide poll.

Mayor Jay Gillian posted a press release accepting the honor and congratulating the city workers and businesses that helped make it possible.

“It’s great to see Ocean City achieve this honor. Ocean City has always been No. 1 in the hearts of so many of our residents and guests, and it’s a tradition for generations of families"

Ocean City in recent years has been named “Best Beach in America” and “Best Beach” in many other statewide polls.
