Adam Coste, a native of Ocean City, was seriously injured in the truck attack on Bourbon Street in New Orleans on New Year's morning.

Local Man Seriously Injured in New Orleans Attack

A local man whose family calls Ocean City home suffered extensive injuries to his lower extremities after being struck by the suspect's vehicle on his walk home from celebrating New Year's Eve in New Orleans.

His sister, Sophia, gave an update on Facebook on Friday saying the love shown for her brother has given the family strength in this time of need.

As many of you know, my brother Adam was injured in the horrific attack in New Orleans. He is alive and recovering from his injuries, and for that, we are profoundly grateful.
On behalf of Adam and our family, we want to extend our sincerest gratitude to all of you who have reached out in support of his recovery. Although it has been difficult for us to respond to everyone individually, please know that Adam and our entire family are deeply appreciative of the outpouring of love and care we’ve received.
The sheer number of Adam’s friends who have reached out to us, shared kind words, and gone to great lengths to offer their support is a true testament to his character and the impact he has had on those around him.

Sophia Coste mentioned that the family's church, Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church in Egg Harbor Township, planned to hold a prayer service for Adam and the other victims of the attack at Sunday's service.

GoFundMe Gives Update on Local Victim's Injuries

Scott Hedge, who organized a GoFundMe fundraiser on behalf of Adam Coste, which had raised almost $77,000 by Sunday night, gave these updates on Adam's injuries from the attack.

After spending a day at a local New Orleans hospital, Adam Costs was released on Thursday, Jan 2nd, while he awaits his next procedure on Tuesday.

He...will require an intensive course of surgeries and rehabilitation to regain his ability to walk.

Hedge says the cost and the amount of time it might take for Adam to recover remains unknown at this time.
