Mayor Jay Gillian has no-nonsense advice for anyone planning to cause trouble this summer in Ocean City. "If you don't want to behave, don't come."

Fight on Ocean City Boardwalk Leads to Stabbing

A fight during a crowded night on the Ocean City Boardwalk led to a 15-year-old boy being stabbed by an unknown suspect around 9:12 p.m. Saturday.

Police said the teen was transported to AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center in Atlantic City for non-life-threatening injuries.

video posted to Instagram on Saturday appears to show a fight involving a group of young people.

Another video, posted to TikTok, shows crowds of people fleeing along 12th Street, down the ramp from the boardwalk after reports of fights, the stabbing, and “a smoke bomb set off.”

An investigation into the stabbing is ongoing. Anyone with information can contact the Ocean City Police Department's Detective Bureau at 609-525-9129.

Ocean City May Jay Gillian Has Tough Words for Bad Actors

Ocean City Mayor Jay Gillian issued a statement Sunday about the stabbing and other incidents that have become far too regular occurrences in the summer.

As in recent years and in other shore towns, Ocean City experienced a number of issues related to large crowds of teens on the Boardwalk, fights, shoplifting and disorderly conduct during the start of Memorial Day Weekend.

I understand the impact that this behavior has on all of our residents, guests and business owners, and I want to assure everybody that Ocean City will not tolerate it.

Our officers made multiple arrests last night and were able to quickly restore order to the Boardwalk once the teens involved in these incidents were removed. We have a highly qualified team of officers on the boardwalk and throughout town, and they will enforce all laws to the fullest.

Ocean City will always be welcoming to all guests, but I want to send a clear message to parents and to teens: “If you don’t want to behave, don’t come.”
