Finding a parking spot during the busy summer season in Ocean City can feel like winning the lottery.

This summer, you can get some help by using a phone app that keeps track of available parking spots in municipal parking lots.

Ocean City Launches Parking Spot App

Ocean City has launched a new system to direct you to available parking spots.

According to the city's website, the real-time guidance system directs motorists to paid municipal parking lots with open spaces through dynamic message boards and a mobile app

Using sensors in the parking lots, the system will direct you to open spots in lots in the city's Boardwalk district.

Ocean City's Parking Spot Finder mobile app is available on iOS and Android.

“It should be a great convenience to our guests, and it’s a way to support our local businesses, maximize parking lot usage, and enhance traffic flow citywide,” Mayor Jay Gillian said in a statement.

Ocean City Invested in Parking App

Ocean City only charges for parking from May 1 and October 31. Parking is free during the off-season months.

But summer parking is big business in Ocean City. Public Information Officer Doug Bergen said the city made $4.1 million in parking revenue in 2024.

So the city decided it made sense to make finding parking as convenient as possible for visitors. Last year, the city approved a more than $ 310,000 contract that includes parking sensors and signs.

The digital signs cover 836 parking spots at seven surface lots closest to the boardwalk.

The Ocean City website says it has more than 2,800 parking spaces in Downtown parking lots and another 1,142 spaces of metered parking on the streets.
