Northfield Police arrested a man from Egg Harbor Township early Saturday after finding him in the area of a suspected car theft in progress.

Northfield Police Responded to Calls for Car Thefts in Progress

Northfield Police were called to the scene of a reported vehicle theft in the 700 block of Cecil Lane at about 2:05 am on Saturday, May 25.

As police were searching for a suspect they received another call about a vehicle theft in progress on Fairway Avenue.

According to a release from Northfield Police, they quickly responded to that call and set up a perimeter on the scene. They soon found the suspect Rashon Harris, who was arrested and transported to the hospital for medical evaluation.

Harris was then taken to the county jail.

Police Confirm Suspect Was Involved in Other Burglary

Northfield Police later confirmed that Harris was connected to breaking into a garage in the 700 block of Broad Street.

Police found that Harris had multiple active warrants against him and was a National Crime Information Center wanted person in Ocean County.

Charges Filed Against Suspect

Rashon Harris was charged with burglary, theft, and several counts of criminal attempt burglary. Police say more charges could be pending against him.

Northfield Police also thanked the members of the community who reported the suspicious activity that led to the arrest.
