The owners of a quaint North Wildwood beach cottage are giving the house away for free to anyone who wants it, with one stipulation.

You have to move the house someplace else.

Andrea Valentino is offering to give her family's North Wildwood beach cottage to anyone who wants it at no charge if they agree to move the house.

Why not just demolish the house, the way everyone does these days?

Andrea told CBS3 it has to do with sentimentality.

"That house means too much to me to just demolish. I'm giving the house away. The house is up for grabs"

The North Wildwood home, at 115 E 22nd Ave, was built in 1937 and features four bedrooms, but only one bathroom.

Andrea and her husband Jim have made this longtime summer house their full-time home and they need more bathrooms, so they came to the hard decision that it's time to rebuild.

“We only had one bathroom. How we survived with all those people having a place to sleep and with only one bathroom? I will never know,” Andrea Valentino joked with CBS3.

If this offer sounds interesting to you, here's a couple of things you should know.
The Valentino’s say they have a demolition date scheduled for  September 2022, so the house would have to be moved by then.
As someone who raised my house, but left it in the same location, I can tell you this is a very complicated and time-consuming process.
Another thing that you will want to research carefully is how much it will cost you to move this house. It ain't cheap. Realtor.com gave this estimate before the cost of housing construction went up in 2021.

The cost of moving a house varies greatly depending on how it’s moved, where it’s moved, the home’s size, and the length of the move. The labor cost of moving a house often starts at about $14 per square foot. That doesn’t take into account other costs, such as building a new foundation and permitting. The total cost of moving a home ranges from as little as $15,000 all the way to $200,000.

But, it is a beautiful home and you may be the one to save it from the wrecking ball.
