No-Shows for COVID-19 Vaccine are a Real Problem in Camden County
The demand for the COVID-19 vaccine continues to be high everywhere and scheduling an appointment for a shot can still be difficult, frustrating, and a real challenge.
One county in South Jersey in Gloucester Township is experiencing a different kind of challenge when it comes to vaccine appointments. According to Patch.com, the vaccination rollout in Camden County is being hampered by no-shows and people who don't call to cancel their appointments.
The Camden County Commissioner Director Louis Cappelli Jr, recently told Patch.com,
"To be clear, no vaccine doses are going to waste, but we are seeing dozens of appointments go unused every day because people don't show up and are not providing our health department the courtesy to cancel their pending appointment."
The vaccine can be used for someone else only if the appointment gets canceled. The Camden County Vaccination Center urges residents to cancel existing appointments if they can't make it by using MyCooper website or by calling by 856-549-0530.
On average there have been between 50-70 no-shows every day. Appointments could have been made earlier in the day if cancelations were reported in a reasonable time frame.
The vaccination center in Camden County is located in the Papiano Gym at Camden County College on 200 College Drive in Blackwood.
Vaccines are given by appointment only Monday through Saturday from 8 AM to 4 PM.
