If you bought certain grocery items from Walmart between Oct. 19, 2018, and Jan. 19, 2024, you may be eligible for a share of a 45 million dollar settlement.

The settlement involves weighted items like meat, seafood, and fruit as well as bagged fruit.

No Receipts, No Problem

Customers without receipts may be eligible for between $10 and $25, while those with proof of purchase may be eligible for more.

The lawsuit, filed in 2022 in the Middle District of Florida, accused the retailer of charging customers more than the lowest price advertised in the store.

The lawsuit was brought when it was discovered that when the shelf price was lower than the sticker price on the item, the scale used to weigh the items, allegedly used the higher of the two prices.

Walmart Denies Wrongdoing

Although Walmart denies wrongdoing, the company agreed to a 45 million dollar settlement to end litigation.

In a statement, the company released to the Associated Press, they said,

“We will continue providing our customers everyday low prices to help them save money on the products they want and need.  We still deny the allegations, however we believe a settlement is in the best interest of both parties.”
