Gaines was charged by the New Jersey State Police Trafficking South Unit in February of 2022 for Weapons Trafficking.

George Gaines is a 51-year-old Black male, 5’8” tall and 165 pounds. Gaines was last seen in Salem County and is known to frequent the Camden and Paulsboro, NJ areas.

The police are asking for your help with information about Gaines, Jr. and also want the public to be aware that he is on the loose and that you should take precautions if you encounter him.

According to New Jersey State Police records, on Feb. 15, 2019, Gaines, who previously had been convicted of murder in New Jersey Superior Court and who has other felony convictions, arranged to sell to another individual a Ruger .22 semi-automatic rifle as well as an extended magazine.

The purchaser, however, was acting at the direction and supervision of law enforcement. In a video and audio-recorded transaction in the basement of a Trenton residence, the individual purchased the rifle and magazine from Gaines using money that law enforcement had provided.

In addition to the prison term, Judge Sheridan sentenced Gaines to three years of supervised release.
