New ShopRite Location Could Be Coming To Atlantic City, New Jersey

It's hard to believe that Atlantic City has been without a big chain grocery store for more than 15 years. Residents have to head to Ventnor or Brigantine if they want to shop at a full-fledged supermarket.

That could change in the very near future as the Press of Atlantic City reports City Officials do have a date and timeline for the groundbreaking for a brand new ShopRite supermarket.

The Casino Reinvestment Development will make the official announcement concerning the new ShopRite shortly. The Mayor of Atlantic City did want residents to know that there is an agreement in place with Village Supermarket Inc. The new 40,000 square foot store will be located at Baltic and Indiana Avenue and will open sometime in the fall of 2021.

Bringing in a new supermarket to the resort town has been in the works since 2018. COVID-19 has been a factor in slowing and delaying the proposed project.

There are 322 ShopRite locations in the United States and 184 locations in the Garden State. I'm sure many residents of Atlantic City are looking forward to finally having a full-service supermarket finally opening up in their neighborhood!
