Ever since Whitehorse Wine and Spirits moved to their shiny new location, there's been a lot of chatter about what should fill their old spot, just a mile up Whitehorse Pike.

And while we're all waiting to see what will land there, that stretch of Absecon has been coming to life with new businesses.

If you've driven by recently, you’ve probably noticed how busy the area is.

The packed parking lots tell the story—"If you build it, they will come," right? Well, that seems to be the case here!

This year alone, we’ve welcomed not just the new Whitehorse Wine and Spirits, but also a charming local cafe called Lola’s and a brand-new Chipotle.

All three seem to be thriving, but the big question remains: What’s next for the old spot?

I got curious and decided to ask the locals on social media what they'd love to see move in.

Let me tell you, the ideas poured in! Some folks suggested a youth center, which would be a wonderful addition.

Others threw out fun options like a pickleball facility or even a bowling alley. But one idea really stood out—a new supermarket.

And not just any supermarket, mind you. People are clamoring for an Aldi!

For those of you who aren’t familiar, Aldi is a popular discount grocery chain.

They offer great deals on name-brand products, plus their own line of goods, and keep prices low by sticking to the essentials.

You’ll find meats, seafood, baked goods, and more without the overwhelming variety of bigger stores.

Well, good news!

As we shared a while back, Aldi is indeed coming to town, right in the old Whitehorse Wine and Spirits building.

And now, they’re hiring! They’re looking for a store manager, assistant manager, full-time associates, and part-time help. Exciting times are ahead for Absecon!

The best supermarkets in New Jersey

America's new #1 supermarket has 21 locations in New Jersey

The ACSI (American Customer Satisfaction Index) analyzed data to determine which supermarket chains ranked highest in customer service. Even though some numbers appear to be the same, there are numerous factors that help determine the overall ranking across the U.S. that are not listed here.
