Multiple Fire Companies Respond to Dennis Twp Blaze
Multiple fire companies and agencies responded to an early morning, two-alarm house fire in South Dennis on Monday.
At 6:18 am Monday, Feb 6, the Dennis Volunteer Fire Company, along with automatic aid units from Ocean View Fire and Belleplain Fire, Stone Harbor Fire's Ladder, and Avalon Fire's rapid intervention team, were dispatched to the 900 block of Route 47 in South Dennis.
They found a 2.5-story home on fire with smoke and flames visible on the second floor and in the attic, according to a Facebook post from the Dennis Volunteer Fire Company/
All the occupants had evacuated from the home before firefighters arrived. The fire soon escalated to two alarms, bringing an additional number of fire departments to the scene.
After initially trying to fight the fire inside the home, firefighters then transitioned to an exterior attack due to the intensity of the fire inside.
The Facebook post says the fire was placed under control in approximately two hours, but Dennis Fire units remained on the scene until approximately 12:15 pm performing salvage and overhaul operations.
Route 47 was closed for over three hours in the area of the blaze.
Dennis Volunteer Fire Company offered their thanks to the Dennisville Wawa for providing food and drinks for firefighters.
