Memorial Day Weekend 2024 has arrived. Yey!

The experts say if you are traveling, you may be a little late arriving with possible record amounts of people expected to take weekend trips.

Over 43 Million People Are Expected to travel This Weekend

AAA is estimating a 4% increase in travel over last year with nearly 44 million people expected to travel his holiday weekend.

Almost 91% of those people are expected to drive to their destination.

If you were wondering, this weekend could top 2005’s record of 44 million Memorial Day travelers.

Listeners told us traffic on the Atlantic City Expressway Thursday night was far heavier than usual and even heavier than the typical South Jersey Shore travel weekend.

The Worst Times to Travel This Memorial Day Weekend

The three-day weekend in New Jersey often means more like five days of increased traffic across the Garden State as travelers leave early or stay late.

Traffic estimates for the I-95 corridor show an expected 43% increase between Philadelphia and Washington, D.C. on Friday.

Here's what AAA says are the worst times to travel by vehicle this weekend in New Jersey:

- Friday, May 24 between noon and 6 pm

-Saturday, May 25th between 2 pm and 5 pm

- Sunday, May 26th between 3 pm and 7 pm

- Memorial Day Monday between 3 pm and 7 pm

- Friday, May 24 before 11 am, after 7 pm

-Saturday, May 25th before 1 pm, after 6 pm

- Sunday, May 26th before 1 pm

- Memorial Day Monday after 7 pm
