Miss America 2017 Welcomes Little Girl Named After Her

2016 will turn out to be a year of a lifetime for the reigning Miss America Savvy Shields.

Miss America got an unexpected surprise on her whirlwind 2017 tour. According to the Press of Atlantic City, Shields was the special guest at a ribbon cutting ceremony in Sioux Falls when she found out that Molly and Jay Scheidt, of Worthing, South Dakota, had a little baby girl and named her Savvy.

What a honor and thrill it must of been for Miss America! I've had the chance to meet Savvy. She was so nice and seemed so down to earth.

Congratulations to the proud parents and to Savvy Shields on all of her accomplishments in 2016!
