You hear it all the time.  "Persistence pays off."  If you're an Eagles fan, this is a story you'll want to pay attention to.

We watch sports to see the stars.  Philadelphia has had more than its fair share of stars.  The towering homeruns off the bat of Mike Schmidt, the memories of the Broad Street Bullies, Dr. J, and Brian Dawkins are all names we remember fondly.

It's said that the stars put "fannies in the seats." That's certainly true.  But who brings the stars to the team?

That would be the team's General Manager.  The casual sports fan may never hear the name of the team's General Manager.  Truth be told, we don't usually hear about the General Manager unless a team is underperforming.  By then, his name is usually connected to rumors of his termination.

The Philadelphia Eagles' General Manager is a man named Howie Roseman.  Roseman has been the boss of The Eagles since 2010.  Previously, he had held several other positions in the Eagles front office.

How did Howie Roseman, a native of Marlboro, New Jersey, become the General Manager of the Philadelphia Eagles?  If you have kids, this is the part of the story you might want to share with them.

Howie Roseman was a student at Fordham Law School, when he began sending letters to then Jets Director of Player Personnel.  He wanted advice on how he could get into the football business.

Tannenbaum told The NY Post that he would respond with rejection letters, but Roseman never gave up. Roseman was "relentless" in his pursuit of answers.

Finally, Tannenbaum invited the young Roseman in for an interview for an internship position.  Although Roseman lost out on the internship, Tannenbaum referred him to Eagles General Manager, Joe Banner.

What Tannenbaum didn't know, was that Roseman had been inundating Banner with letters as well.  Banner brought Roseman on as an intern where hard work and perseverance led to a rise within the organization, a super bowl ring, and as of this writing another Super Bowl appearance.
