We love Curly's Fries at Morey's Pier as much as the next person, but this guy's reason for decapitating a seagull seems more than a little excessive.

Man Decapitated Seagull Over Attempted French Fries Theft

A Cape May man admitted to decapitating a seagull in North Wildwood after it tried to steal french fries from his daughter.

The man then reportedly asked the staff at Morey's Piers for a trash bag while holding the dead seagull.

According to court documents obtained by 6ABC Action News, that's what Franklin Zeigler, 29, told North Wildwood Police.

Police received a call on July 6 about animal cruelty at Morey’s Piers’ Surfside Pier, at 25th Street and the boardwalk in North Wildwood.

The Police say Ziegler became angry and uncooperative with officers who were on the pier for an unrelated investigation, leading to his arrest on charges of disorderly conduct and resisting arrest.

A Police Investigation Leads to Animal Cruelty Charges

After investigating, North Wildwood Police charged Franklin Zeigler with third-degree animal cruelty on July 18 based on witness statements and photos they obtained.

Ziegler was released on a summons pending a future court date.
