Mainland High School Remembers Sad Anniversary

The Mainland High School family are remembering a sad anniversary today.  It was one year ago that four members of the Mainland High Football Team died in an accident on the Garden State Parkway. Casey Brenner, 17, of Northfield, 15- year-old Dean Khoury of Linwood, Edgar Bozzi, 17, from... Somers Point, and Nicholas Conner, 16, of Northfield, died when the SUV they were in overturned.  Four other students and team members were injured in the accident.

The tragedy sent shock-waves through the  Mainland community at the time and, a year later, it remains a source of sadness for friends and family that will never be forgotten.  My condolences to the families on this sad anniversary.

But it's also important to remember  how the loss of their schoolmates served as a rallying point for Mainland High last year, with students, faculty and members of the school family finding strength by coming together as a community. What they accomplished together was impressive and a proud tribute to the four students who lost their lives one year ago today.
