It was a long time coming, but Ocean County Prosecutor, Bradley D. Billhimer announced the capture of Chaudhry Yousaf.

Yousaf, 52 whose last known address was said to be in Valley Stream, New York, has been a fugitive on the run since 2009.

Police say that on March 28, 2009, a black Lincoln Town Car, driven by Yousaf was traveling southbound on the Garden State Parkway when he lost control of the car.

The car hit a road sign and veered into the wooded area where it struck a tree before coming to a rest.

Police transported Yousaf to the Ocean County Jail where his bond was set at $150,000.

Yousaf posted the bond and was released from custody.

On February 5, Chaudhry Yousaf failed to appear for a mandatory court date, and a warrant was issued for his arrest.

Yousaf has been a fugitive from justice since that date - until December 24, when he was taken into custody in New York City.

Prosecutor Billhimer acknowledges the New Jersey State Police Fatal Accident Unit, New Jersey State Police Crime Scene Investigation Unit, United States Marshals Service New York/ New Jersey Fugitive Task Force, Ocean County Sheriff’s Office, New York/New Jersey Port Authority Police, and United States Customs Police, for their collaborative efforts and assistance in connection with this investigation, ultimately leading to Yousaf’s apprehension - and his return to Ocean County to answer for this very serious charge.

The subject in this story should be presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
