Cousin Mario's Italian Restaurant & Bar, a staple in Mays Landing for over 50 years, is changing ownership.

The restaurant, run by the Giordano family since 1973, will be taken over by a longtime former chef for Cousin Mario's.

The Giordano family has had the business listed for sale for the past few years.

50 Years' Worth of Memories at Cousin Mario's

When you've been a popular local restaurant for as long as Cousin Mario's, people have developed a lot of memories of the fun times they have had there over the years.

Stories of family dinners, Christmas and birthday parties, baby showers, work get-togethers, and grandma's memorial lunch are commonplace when you ask people about their memories of Cousin Mario's.

Another thing you hear over and over is how much everyone liked the food and the service.

My wife and I decided to give Cousin Mario’s a try for dinner tonight and we were greeted by the owner John who gave us our choice of seats. The menu was a great variety of Italian food from appetizers to seafood, pizza and subs.

They had a special tonight which included a dozen wings and a large 16” 2 topping pizza which we ordered with a Caesar salad. The salad was freshly made & excellent, also included were pizza dough rolls (amazing!), the wings were some of the best we’ve had and the thin crust pizza was perfect!!

Great Food, Great Service, worth a return visit.

What's Next for Cousin Mario's?

In a recent Facebook post, Cousin Mario's owner Joe Giordano said the new owner is a former employee.

And now I’d like to introduce to you our old chef, Omar, who worked for us for 15 years, him and his family will be taking over. He’s a wonderful guy with a great family.

A sign on the business says the new restaurant will feature Mexican food, but word is that they plan to keep some of Cousin Mario's menu items.

The new owners are expected to take over the week of Sept 23 at Cousin Mario's, 5401 Harding Hwy., Mays Landing.
