I rarely do this. Because I much prefer to write food and beverage articles that feature many of the great restaurants throughout the Southern New Jersey region … as there are legitimately so many outstanding ones to choose from both casino and non-casino.

I am making an exception today and I’m going out on a limb to offer my opinion about the finest Lobster Macaroni and Cheese that is available in Atlantic County, New Jersey.

You may hold an entirely different position about this … if we have a split decision, please let me know your thoughts.

The winner of The Lobster Mac & Cheese title according to me is …

Steve and Cookies By The Bay in Margate City, New Jersey.

One of the most important parts (of course) is the pasta. Owner Cookie Till has selected the perfect pasta, called “Dischi Volanti," which is Italian for flying saucers. I love this particular pasta because the  shape wonderfully holds on to the cheese and other magnificent "bits" and the other ingredients.

Cookie Till is very generous with the amount of lobster meat that is included and the Panko Breadcrumbs on top, take it to the next level.

Here it is … in all of its glory … paired with a shrimp cocktail (see directly below):

Come on, admit it … you have had lobster Mac & Cheese, and you need a magnifying glass to find even a tiny morsel of lobster meat.

I want to conclude my review by teaming-up with my Daughter, Kristin … who is a “Fabulous Foodie.”

I asked Kristin to comment about Steve and Cookies Lobster Mac & Cheese. Here is Kristin’s critique:

Steve and Cookie's has hands down the best lobster mac and cheese I've ever had.  It has become one of the dishes that I do not order at any other restaurant because experience says they will all disappoint.  The orecchiette pasta used in place of typical macaroni pasta is the perfect vessel to hold the dish together.  Cookie's lobster mac is full of large chunks of sweet lobster claw meat.  This is not your typical seafood mac and cheese that is mostly filler.  The dish is so substantial, although it is listed as an appetizer, many order it as an entree.  I would suggest you order one per person because you will fight over the last bites if you order it to share (and it is great to take home and reheat the next day).”

There you have it. Both of us agree. Steve & Cookies interpretation of Lobster Mac & Cheese wins the day!

Bon appétit.
