Authorities in Gloucester County are investigating an apparent murder-suicide that left a woman and man dead.

Murder-suicide in Clayton, NJ

The Clayton Police Department says at about 7:00 Tuesday night, May 7th, their officers were called to the Academy Arms Apartments at 357 N. Broad St. for a domestic incident and a report of gunfire.

Officials at the scene discovered a 45-year-old man and a 43-year-old woman dead in the apartment.

Police say their initial investigation indicates that this was a murder-suicide.

WPVI-TV reports the woman was killed by the man, whom she knew. The man then took his own life.

The Gloucester County Prosecutor's Office has not yet released the identities of the victims and a possible motive.

The Clayton Police Department says there is no danger to the public.
