Multiple Incidents Reported at Atlantic Avenue Recreation Complex

First, there was an incident that involved vandalism to the female public restrooms in early May, and now several large rocks have been thrown onto the pickleball courts, which could cause significant damage to the newly finished playing surfaces.at 5600 Atlantic Avenue.

The targeted area is a major hub for community recreation and includes five full tennis courts, six pickleball courts, a full basketball court, six volleyball courts, two tennis walls, a handicap-accessible playground, and full bathrooms.

The recurring damage has sparked frustration among local residents who are speaking out on social media.  Some commentators are asking the city to put cameras up on the court and facing the bathrooms.  Another poster wonders if the surrounding homes possess surveillance and doorbell camera footage of any nefarious behavior or individuals in the area, to step forward.

With Memorial Day Weekend rapidly approaching, police are working diligently to put an end to the property damage before peak crowds arrive.
