
St. Augustine Prep Football Coach Pete Lancetta Steps Down
One of the top football programs in South Jersey is looking for its next coach.

Lancetta leaves St. Augustine as the winningest coach in school history and is the he is the fifth winningest coach in South Jersey history. He coached at Hammonton for 26 seasons, going 215-64-2, before taking over the Hermits program on May 24, 2017.
“We are deeply grateful to Coach Lancetta for his nine years of service to the Hermits football program,” St. Augustine Prep athletic director Mike Rizzo said in a statement. “His passion for the game and his care for our student-athletes helped build a strong foundation that will benefit the program for years to come.”
Lancetta put Hammonton on the map, winning one South Jersey Group III title, three South Jersey Group II titles, and 12 conference championships with the Blue Devils. He left Hammonton in 2014 to coach at Rowan for two seasons before returning to the high school ranks with St. Augustine.
In 2025, Lancetta's Hermits went 6-4, playing in the NJSIAA’s Non-Public Group A, one of the toughest groups in the entire country.
