For many people, Equestrian Competitions is a sport they are only familiar with because of the Summer Olympics every four years.  However, Equestrianism dates back to 682 BC and is one of the oldest known competitive events in human history.

To be a successful Equestrian, that individual must commit many hours to the care of their horse and develop a close relationship with the animal.  Only then can both rider and horse work together successfully maneuver through different challenges and obstacles together.  This is why what 13-year-old Regan Capone has accomplished is so impressive.

According to a Press Release from Sea Isle City Public Relations, Regan Capone is a resident of Sea Isle City who began Equestrian Training when she was five years old at Pembrook Farm in Dennis Township.

She is a student at Ocean City Intermediate School, which means her daily travel itinerary is time-consuming.  She is going to and from school every day, plus traveling to and from the farm in Eldora, New Jersey daily, this young lady is on the road for about 80 minutes every day.  That's more road time than some people have for their professional commute each day.

Thanks to a great 2023 Equestrian season for Regan Capone and her pony, Tia Maria, they have qualified for the United States Equestrian Federation Pony Finals in Lexington, Kentucky from August 6th to 11th of this year.

Here is what Regan Capone and Tia Maria accomplished in 2023:

*First place in the United States Hunter Jumper Association's Children's Hunter Ponies Small/Medium Division for Zone 2 (New York, Pennsylvania, and New Jersey) for the 2023 competitive year.
*Overall Reserve Champion during the HITS-on-the-Hudson Horse Show’s Pony Finals, in Saugerties, NY
*National Second Place Finish for the United States Equestrian Federation’s 2023 Children's Hunter Ponies Horse of The Year

On top of all of these accomplishments as an Equestrian, she has also raised almost $4,000 for Mike's Seafood Run-Walk for Autism hosted annually in Sea Isle City during President's Day Weekend in February.  The South Jersey Equestrian has also raised close to $51,000 for the Love of Linda Cancer Fund, assisting Cape May County cancer patients.

Best wishes to Regan Capone and her pony, Tia Maria, as they prepare for the USEF Finals later this summer.  Maybe someday we will see this young lady from Sea Isle City competing in the Olympics.  If you are wondering, the 2028 Olympics will be in Los Angeles, California and the 2032 Olympics will hosted in Brisbane, Australia.
