The holidays are well gone at this point as we are midway through January 2024. That means nobody should have to do anymore extensive shopping unless you have a big event coming up this year.

Well, I guess it's safe to say we're officially into the holiday season now, right? I know that some people won't be decorating until Black Friday, but for many others, the tree went up this weekend.

I did, however, do a bit of shopping over the weekend. Let me tell you, I definitely prefer shopping online over in-store. I think it's because of the convenience. That's not to say that I don't ADORE mom-and-pop shops. I try to shop local whenever I can. It's a bonus when the store has an online storefront in addition to their brick-and-mortar location.

That got me thinking... are people here in the Garden State even using cash to shop anymore? If so many of us are buying all of our goods online, then the answer is "no." That's when I knew I had to leave it up to you.

Does New Jersey prefer to use cash or card?

If you're someone that still prefers to pay everything with cash, then it makes sense why you'd still be shopping for everything at all the brick-and-mortar stores.

I try not to carry cash too often. It's so much safer NOT to have any on you. I know my older family members still carry it. Even my favorite small businesses accept cards now, so why carry cash? A new survey said the city of Philadelphia mostly prefers cash. That SHOCKED me. It got me thinking about the Philly suburbs and beyond here in South Jersey. Do we prefer to use cash or do we all mostly use our cards these days?

Don't get me wrong, I hope cash never goes away. I'm just curious about my fellow NJ residents' spending habits.
