Is This South Jersey Halloween Display Too Gruesome? [VIDEO]
A Halloween display depicting a fake car crash scene with blood-splattered bodies has angered some people in lower Ocean County. Does this Halloween display go too far? Some neighbors think so.
The question is whether Kevin and Krysten Negrotto from Waretown went too far with their display, that shows a "bloodied" white Toyota pinning a body against a tree with another body on the ground and crime scene tape surrounding the scene.
The couple even wrote up a fake news story about Bob the zombie being "zombified by contaminated drinking water by a power plant" and added the other body was named "Zombie Cindy".
But their Halloween set-up is so real that police said they were inundated with calls complaining the display was inappropriate.
Krysten told ABC 13: "Somebody reported it saying they didn't like it, and they did get reports of it previously someone saying it was real.
"How could anybody call the cops on a Halloween display that clearly is fake?"
Some locals said they had no problems with the gruesome display while others say it looks too realistic.
The homeowners have defended their Halloween display saying they didn't mean to offend anyone.
"You see worse on the news," Krysten said. "Honestly, you see worse in real life on TV."
Cops say they can't issue a ticket for decorations adding the homeowners were free to decorate their home.
