Hundreds Mourn Mainland Student Killed in Crash; $15,000 Donated to Help Family
Aisling Cooke, the Mainland Regional High School freshmen who died after being involved in a car accident with four other Mainland students, will be laid to rest Monday.
Cooke, 14, and the other students were on their way to a charity soccer game at St. Augustine Prep in Buena on August 30th when a truck crossed the center line and hit the car in which she was a passenger.
Hundreds of mourners attended the viewing Sunday for Cooke at Our Lady of Sorrows Church in Linwood. Visitation continues at 9:30am, followed by an 11am Mass.
The death of Aisling Cooke has been devastating for her friends and classmates at Mainland Regional and for her parents and younger brother, Colin.
A fundraising website to help the family deal financially with her loss has so far raised more than $15,000.
