This Old Kmart Is Becoming a Huge New ShopRite
There is a new opening date for the new ShopRite of Manahawkin.
The new ShopRite location in the Manahawkin Commons at 733 Route 72 West in Manahawkin is now scheduled to open on Wednesday, February 4th.
The new location was originally planned to open in December, but that opening was delayed.
The new ShopRite will be on the site of the long-vacant Manahawkin KMart.
The New ShopRite Promises to Be Bigger and Better
The new store will be a whopping 116,000 square feet, offering a much larger selection and shopping experience than the current location and measuring in as one of ShopRite's biggest stores.
The state-of-the-art supermarket, managed by Saker Properties, is replacing the existing, smaller store in Stafford Square Mall.
The Stafford Square store will close when the new store opens.
The new location is being touted as one of the largest and most modern supermarkets in the area, according to the CEO and President of Saker ShopRites, Richard Saker
"We're excited about moving the ShopRite of Manahawkin into a new location and look forward to continuing to serve the local community."
Shoprite of Manahawkin Is a Family-Owned Business
The Saker family purchased seven Perlmutter-owned ShopRite stores, including the Manahawkin location, in 2021.
Saker ShopRites Inc. employs 10,255 workers in New Jersey, making it the top family-owned business in the state by number of employees, according to NJBIZ research.
Saker ShopRites owns and operates 40 supermarkets, including 39 ShopRites with pharmacies, across Ocean, Monmouth, Somerset, Middlesex, and Mercer counties.
The ShopRites in Atlantic, Cape May, and Cumberland counties are owned by the Sumas family, who own 30 ShopRites in New Jersey.
